I love how Isaac Asimov came up with the classic three laws of robotics and then spent so much of his qsimov figuring out ways to bend those laws or to make things fit into them in surprising ways. He seems to have some sort of a glitch that allows him to think less like a machine and more like a human.

I had a harder time getting through it than I would have though, but I still think it is a good book overall. However the writing style is different between the two versions. Possibly these were Silverberg’s additions to the story, I can’t say for sure, but it made me chuckle inside a bit. Andrew’s progression from robot to human is touching and the reactions of the characters in the background are believable and realistic — from acceptance to disquiet to hate.
The story on which this novel is based was one of my favorites in all of Asimov’s robot stories. I feel like that is just a matter of time.
